There are hundreds of routines that you can include in your classroom and content on any given day. For me, I always had a few that I stuck to in order to give my lesson structure, give my students voice and choice and differentiate to their needs. There are routines that revolve more around reading, discussion and groupwork that I will get into later, but there are a few that I always recommend to teachers in order to create a structure for their lessons and allow for freedom within the structure.

Journaling is an essential part of my class and supports low-stakes writing and stamina in writing. It allows for students to express themselves and process content regularly.
